Supporting Local and International Communities through Education

In the period from July 2016 through June 2019, the Club focused its charitable efforts to improve the lives of women and children in the area of education.

Handwerkerinnenhaus Koeln

For three years, we sponsored local programs at the Handwerkerinnenhaus in Cologne. This organization serves girls and young women who have dropped out of school or are at risk of doing so. Providing an alternative place to learn, the Handwerkerinnenhaus motivates students to finish school and focus on a potential career. The girls gain confidence, develop a new perspective on life and realize a vocational future. This organization reaches more than 1,100 girls and women every year here in Cologne.

The AIWCC donated a total of 13,842€, which was used to fund both their Holly Wood and Mädchenprojekt Zukunft programs. Learn more at Handwerkerinnenhaus Köln.

On the international front, the Club donated $7363 over the course of two years in support of the FAWCO Target Project, Hope Beyond Displacement, an initiative of the Collateral Repair Project (CRP). The project was designed to address the pressing issues identified in close consultation with the women they serve by building better futures through education, vocational and leadership training for refugee women and girls in Amman, Jordan.

A total of $190,000 was raised by FAWCO Member Clubs, individuals and initiatives of The FAWCO Foundation. This funding allowed CRP to ...

    • Enroll 866 girls in school from 2017-2019
    • Create the Super Girls trauma sensitive after-school program and support its translation from English to Arabic
    • Build a new playground at the CRP Community Center
    • Provide Women’s Vocational Training to well over 150 women in two areas
    • Provide International Computer Driving License (ICDL) computer skills training and computer coding classes
    • Offer training in beauty and hair skills coupled with training in self-employment skills.
    • Support Women’s Leadership through the Women’s Empowerment 101 Program and Gender-Based Violence training; followed by Training the Trainer workshops and the Leadership in Action program.

Having Fun Raising Funds!

In 2006, the Club received its article of incorporation as a nonprofit organization (e.V. status) and stipulated, through its constitution, a commitment to help the local and international community at large, with a specific focus on women and children. The AIWCC aligns its charitable efforts with the FAWCO Target Program’s three year cycle, with the overarching goal to improve the lives of women and children in the areas of Education, Environment, Health and Human Rights on a rotating basis. We support the Target Project as our international charity and support a member proposed local charity following careful vetting.
