Cologne Fairy Tales • A Reading for Young and Old
Come celebrate our favorite city and dress as your favorite fairy tale character!
Member, Jutta Echterhoff, will be reading a selection of fairy tales, in English, from her book "Das Kölner Märchenbuch".
Have you ever wondered how the little dwarfs, called Heinzelmännchen, first came to Cologne and why they disappeared so suddenly, or taken notice of the two white horses peering through the top window of the tower in Richmodstrasse near Neumarkt and pondered about their significance?
In her Cologne Fairy tales, Jutta shares some of the exciting secrets and ancient traditions of Cologne. She researched old legends dating from the Romans through the Middle Ages to the Prussian occupation of Cologne.
Along with her co-author and sightseeing guide, Susanne Viegener, Jutta puts a new spin on the tales and legends of Cologne to share with children. "Das Kölner Märchenbuch", is a trove of history, culture and fun!
This event is not solely intended for 5-12 year olds but will, undoubtedly, be of interest to all those keen to know more about the 2,000 year history of Cologne. Everyone is welcome!
